Ashley Comer graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) with a BFA in photography and a minor in graphic design. Incorporating the influence of design and painting in her approach to photography, Ashley captures imagery with a cinematic quality focused on family, self-portraiture, friends, and strangers.
“Photography is a medium of endless possibilities where a single image can have an incredible impact. I’m interested in putting people in places they may not belong or placing objects together that might not make sense. I like the idea of trying to capture people in a way that sort of implies a character."
Using color grading techniques, Ashley creates thought-provoking photographs with a dreamlike atmosphere. Most recently she has been working on a "photo a day" project which can be found on her Instagram page.
Currently, Ashley lives in Uppingham, England where she works as a resident artist as well as a photography teaching fellow.
“Education is the key factor in how things evolve. My strong passion for education stems from my past experience working at EXPLO, a unique and supportive learning environment that builds independence and teaches creative thinking. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and seeing them put it into practice. The people who have impacted me the most have been my teachers, and I strive to do the same for others."
Ashley’s work has been featured in such publications as Business Insider, Daily Mail, and Featured Shoot. In addition to that she has been in group exhibitions across the United States as well as in France.
